Well..so they are trying to attract more people to politics by increasing salary of the politicians?

yea, but while they attract people, who suffers? its we all wat.. we pay more tax, more gst and stuff... just to feed the government

Well..basically..becos they just wan to boost the confidence of the politicians..becos previously..lawyers and accountants earns more than the politicians..

now that it is balance..the goverment just hope that they are willing to work more harder for the country..

of cos we will bo song..33.3% is already alot..and the goverment cant guarantee Singapore can improve by 33.3% better as compared to now

firstly, so what if economy is increasing? does that mean that our wages increase?
my mom is a teacher. economy has been rising for the last 5 years.. but so far, her wages have not yet increase..
2nd, isnt their previous income, which is 2 million, enough to feed them for 1 month?

Singaporeans are kiasu..they always want to get the best inorder to let them put their effort in..

Although Singapore economy is rising..but the goverment prefer to put them on better facilities such as LRTs..esplanade as these will attract more tourists

they will never get satisfied..unless increasing teachers' salaries can help to build the economy

erm, the first point u made was so that people will be attracted to be a member of parliament..
well, if thats the case, isnt the government say that "join us!! we will increase yr salary!! We give u big bucks!! join us!!" isnt that joining just for the sake of money? then wat will happen in the end??

Second, if the government wants more people to join in the civil service, why dun they double the civil servants wages and just increase their wages by 3-5 % instead of 33%?

they want to attract talented people..groom them before they can be a politician

And LKY school of public policy only hav 250 intakes now..although it have increase from 50 in 2004..but only 20% are singaporean

and people would rather take higher salary jobs..

PM's pay is 2m a year next year. read it frm an online post. he said he'd send those money to charity. as in the increase. haa~
